URLSubmit
The URLSubmit script lets you submit your url to 12 Search Engines in one go. The ideal thing about this script is that it posts your submission in such a way that the Search Engines treat it as a manual submission. Your server needs to be able to allow SSI calls to run.You can try our demo Here
URLSubmit is a simple little script that needs very little editing to install on your server.
The only Restrictions are :
1. You must have the facility to run CGI Scripts on your server.
2. You must be able to use SSI calls on your server. If you don't have these two facilities then we recommend Virtualis Systems.
3. It Requires the user to have a Frames enabled Browser.
We are planning on increasing the number of search engines to at least 100, but this is still being worked on and once complete it will be announced in our 'Webmasters Ezine'. This will also require a registration fee which we will announce at the same time.
Installation
There are a total of 8 files that need to be uploaded to your site.First of all create a directory on your server called 'submit' to upload the html files up to. CHMOD this directory to 777.
Second, the following files will need altering:
blank1.html - change the url in the SSI call to point to the location of the redirect.pl file. This should be in your CGI-BIN and this line may not need altering. You may need to change the name of this file to blank1.shtml depending on how your server uses SSI Calls.
data.txt - This file should contain the full url of the blank.html file. This will be in your new 'submit' directory.
index.html - Change the url of the source of the 'main' frame to point to the redirect.pl file in your CGI-BIN.
redirect.pl - There are two items that need changing here. $url should be the full url of your blank.html file in your 'submit' directory and $path is the absolute path to your 'submit' directory.
urlsubmit.pl - The only thing that needs to be altered in this file is the @referers - this should be a list of domains that you are allowing to use your script.
submit.html - There are nine items that need altering in this file:
1. The Form action should point to the urlsubmit.pl file in your CGI-BIN.
2. The value of subtitle is the name you are giving your submission service.
3. The value of subhomeurl is the url of your home page.
4. The value of subdir is the absolute path of your 'submit' directory.5. The value of subimage is the url of your banner or site logo.
6. The value of subalt is the alt text you want displayed in case your banner/logo doesn't load.
7. The value of subimgwidth is the width of your banner/logo.
8. The value of subimgheight is the height of your banner/logo.
9. The value of subfont is the font style you want your page displayed in. You can also change the layout of this page but please do not change anything else within the form itself.Upload urlsubmit.pl and redirect.pl to your CGI-BIN as ascii files and CHMOD them to 755. Upload the rest of the files included in this package to you new 'submit' directory.
